Discovering music, evoking memories – A special guided tour for people with dementia
Music touches and moves us – and often remains alive even when words fade away. Our new programme invites people with dementia and their carers on a special journey through the Musical Instrument Museum. In an atmosphere of appreciation and tranquillity, we discover sounds, rhythms and memories together.
During a guided tour, participants experience historical instruments not only with their eyes, but also with their ears, hands and hearts. Singing, humming, listening and improvising together take centre stage – accompanied by familiar songs such as ‘Brother Jacob’, ‘The Mill is Turning’ or ‘Bumblebee’.
At various stations – from the violin and viola to the harpsichord and organ, right through to the barrel organ – musical prompts and small interactive activities invite you to feel your own rhythm, recall memories of past concerts or your own musical experiences, and rediscover the diversity of sounds.
An open exchange and singing together make this museum visit a lively experience. Afterwards, there is the opportunity to round off the visit in a relaxed atmosphere in our café.
