What does a wedding photo, a magazine from the Soviet Union or a self-sewn bag have to do with personal freedom and human rights?
All these objects tell the story of people in the GDR who stood up for their rights. In the fall of 1989, thousands of East Germans took to the streets and protested peacefully for freedom, democracy and human rights. But how did people demand their rights in everyday life in the GDR?
We invite you to explore these questions with us on a one-hour tour of the permanent exhibition "Everyday Life in the GDR".
