Radialsystem was opened on 9 September, 2006. Since then, the former pumping station by the Spree has grown, changed, and re-invented itself – all the while staying true to its identity as an open space for art, ideas, and encounters with the unknown.
In celebration of our 20th birthday, we are inviting you to join us from 09 - 12 September 2026 for three days of music, dance, conversations, workshops, performances, and communal celebration. “Radialsystem für Alle” is an opportunity for artists, audiences, neighbours and companions of Radialsystem to come together.
The programme opens on Wednesday with the return of “Walden” by Heiner Goebbels, almost 20 years after its premiere. A new production of this work, which explores our relationship with nature and our search for different forms of living together, will be presented by Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop (in celebration of its 20th anniversary) and Ensemble Klang from the Netherlands.
On Friday, concerts, workshops, lecture performances and conversations will follow, including formats from the “UNEXPECTED LESSONS - Knowledges of Body and Sound” series. As a musical highlight, the multiple award-winning Andromeda Mega Express Orchestra will perform. The ensemble was also formed 20 years ago and has been shaping the Berlin musical landscape with its unique sound ever since.
The highlight of “20 Jahre Radialsystem” will take place on Saturday, when we look forward to welcoming visitors large and small to an Open House: between the Spree, the terrace, the meadow, the hall, and the studios, we will celebrate with picnics, a family programme, workshops, performances, and musical interludes to discover and join in with. From late morning onwards, the grounds will be turned into an open space for encounters between visitors of all ages. Special guests include Renae Shadler, Xavier Le Roy, Sandhya Daemgen and NICO AND THE NAVIGATORS, among many others. In the evening, Sasha Waltz & Guests will perform a special version of „In C“, together with Acid Pauli and other musical guests.
