As climate change thins the ice—threatening both their existence and our own—Emperor penguins (Aptenodytes forsteri) become a mirror to our modern world. In one of the harshest climates on Earth, they survive not through competition, but through cooperation: gathering in dense formations, sharing warmth in continuous movement. No hierarchy, no territory—only proximity and mutual dependence.
Where human societies often fragment under pressure, they endure by staying together. Their huddle embodies a form of collective resilience that feels increasingly rare, prompting a question: in our pursuit of individual gain, what have we lost of our ability to sustain one another?
Through a close interplay of dance, live music, and scenography, Tous sur la banquise (All on the Ice Floe) translates this phenomenon into a physical language. Bodies cluster, shift, and reorganize—hovering between human and animal, structure and instinct. The stage becomes a site of negotiation: of space, of warmth, of survival.
A visually striking work that reflects on the fragility of our existence—and asks how the human body, in relation to others, meets the conditions of our time.
