Production and Ensemble
Streetvoices is a tribute to the voices of the street and the richness of urban dance culture. The piece explores community, individuality, resilience and the reasons why dance means so much to us. Through this performance, we want to show who we are, raise our voices and bring the energy of urban dance to the theatre stage.
Created in 2024, Streetvoices has continued to evolve ever since. Throughout this ongoing process, we continue to discover ourselves — and one another — in new ways, as dancers, artists and people.
Our work brings together a range of urban dance styles while leaving ample space for each dancer’s individual artistic voice. The performance is full of energy, yet equally shaped by moments of emotion and sensitivity. We hope to move our audience while inviting them into our world of hip-hop.
We — Maya, Patricia, Tilda, Lina and Arina — have known each other for almost four years. We first met through a dance course organised by the North Rhine-Westphalia Dance Association (LAG Tanz) at a youth centre in Düsseldorf. In 2024, we came together as the permanent collective SYMBIONYX. Today, we train together two to three times a week in Düsseldorf. Our group is defined by boundless energy, a shared passion for hip-hop, close friendship and, above all, the joy of dancing.
