Silence is sexy

Aesthetics of Solidarity Festival

Aesthetics of Solidarity Festival

There are situations that make us uncomfortable. Words we don’t say. Injustices we witness and let pass. Out of fear, habit, self-preservation, or protection. But who does that silence really protect? And what price do we pay — as individuals and as a society — every time we choose to stay silent?
Silence is Sexy is a collective creation by Pandeforium, combining music, body expression, images, and word to question the everyday silences in the face of injustice. The play raises questions about the social, cultural, and emotional mechanisms that prevent us from intervening.
At a time when speaking out can make you uncomfortable, expose you, or isolate you, this piece invites reflection on who has the right to speak, who decides what can and cannot be said, and how collective silence can become complicity.
Using the methodology of Forum Theatre, the audience is invited to search for collective strategies to engage with the situations presented on stage and propose alternative actions, drawing from their own experiences and social positions.
An aesthetic and political experience, this play understands that art is also an act of taking a stand, and that shared words can be a first gesture toward transformation.
