The DART Dance Company is a contemporary dance company based in Berlin, founded in 2013 under the artistic direction of Kinga Varga. DART has performed in 13 countries around the world to date. By 2022, 47 productions for full-length and short programs had been conceived. The company's movement language is inspired by classical ballet, contemporary dance, acrobatics, and visual elements. With the DART DSP Program, the company promotes young international talents.

Bodies meet, reach out, pull back again. Movements fall out of sync, connections flicker and dissolve in the next moment. A constant drifting runs through the space.

“Smash Me Softly” makes the quiet violence of our encounters palpable: closeness emerges, breaks off, tips into distance. Screens promise connection across any distance, yet isolation grows when bodies interact only virtually. A dance between presence and absence.

One moment we are alive, full of desires and thoughts. The next, only a body remains: colorless, weightless, empty. The piece moves between these two states. It reveals how closely meaning and indifference, life and death, lie beside each other.
