PLATFORM 14

PLATFORM 14

Platform 14 is an annual international dance festival that challenges traditional boundaries of genre and form. Selected dancers and choreographers present their contemporary, urban and experimental dance pieces on an equal footing.
This year’s edition brings together works that navigate the space between intimacy and community, exploring themes such as identity, memory, perception and the shifting dynamics of our contemporary world. From poetic reflections on current affairs and social structures to physical explorations of togetherness, transformation and resistance, the program unfolds as a multi-layered dialogue between diverse experiences.
Over three evenings, spaces for encounters will be created, where vulnerability, humor, dialogue, curiosity and critical reflection meet artistic expression.
This year, Platform 14 opens with the Alumni Night: following an internal selection process, three groups from last year’s open call return to present new and longer pieces.
L’Émerveillée: INQUIETS (ES)Inquiets is a contemporary dance piece that explores the paradox of a movement-based performance that speaks about stillness. Five performers become living sculptures that explore our relationship with time, movement and attention. Inspired by the sculptural work of Juan Muñoz, the piece transforms the living body into an ephemeral sculpture, stretching the limits between immobility and action.
Ashley Affolter & Zsófia Safranka: Peti | SILT  (NL / HU) SILT evokes a landscape in slow transformation, where matter gathers, drifts, and settles in fragile layers. Pressure compacts what once floated; distance loosens what seemed fixed. Forms accumulate, fracture, and resettle, as if the terrain were remembering each contact. Proximity thickens into temporary ground, then thins again into suspension. What remains is a shifting surface shaped by time, weight, and the quiet force of relation.

Alessandra La Bella: Swan song (IT) Swan song is a nostalgic journey into the confrontation with fear when facing an end, the moment just before it happens. Inspired by the myth of the swan and Ovid’s poetry, it is a poem of self-reflection. Swan song is a vibrant celebration of the creative spirit and the courage it takes to let go.

Selina Shida Hack & Gianna DiGirolamo: Ladies Room (USA) “Ladies Room" explores the relationship between movement, gender roles, and subconscious biases contributing to the feminist discourse. Although movement serves as the primary medium for our research, we curated monologues, music, and costumes that resonate with our theme and critique the effects of societal conditioning on gender performance.

Francesco Paolino: M U G A (IT)  “Muga” is a concept from Japanese philosophy that refers to the state of non-ego, where the self dissolves and frees itself from attachments and expectations. The piece reflects on contemporary humanity, increasingly trapped in systems of production and performance. Two bodies move within a mechanical landscape until a fracture appears: an error that awakens fragility and awareness.
