Platform 14 is an annual international dance festival that challenges traditional boundaries of genre and form. Selected dancers and choreographers present their contemporary, urban and experimental dance pieces on an equal footing.
This year’s edition brings together works that navigate the space between intimacy and community, exploring themes such as identity, memory, perception and the shifting dynamics of our contemporary world. From poetic reflections on current affairs and social structures to physical explorations of togetherness, transformation and resistance, the program unfolds as a multi-layered dialogue between diverse experiences.
Over three evenings, spaces for encounters will be created, where vulnerability, humor, dialogue, curiosity and critical reflection meet artistic expression.
This year, Platform 14 opens with the Alumni Night: following an internal selection process, three groups from last year’s open call return to present new and longer pieces.
Project001: Echoes: Grounds we share Echoes: Grounds we share explores an idea of togetherness and co-existence. It tries to replace powerplays and opportunistic leadership with trust, reciprocity and shared responsibility. How can we create spaces that encourage communication on equal terms without minimizing objections and needs?
Moritz Lucht & Deborah Dalla Valle: BIRDS The duet developed from two independent solos inspired by the mating dance of birds of paradise. Through recombining shared dynamics and movement fragments, the distance between the performers gradually dissolves, leading to a couple’s dance loosely inspired by ballroom situations.
Paul Damiano: Quiet Storm Seen before being known. Defined before speaking. A solo about being Black in white spaces. About the tension between who I am and what you see. And about reclaiming my pace in spaces that misread me.
Kostas Charalampous & Zsofia Temesvari: Until it's too late Until it's too late is a duet that explores the raw power of movement to express the cycles of human connection, an unspoken dialogue between two bodies.
Aleth Berenice: Questioning Purity Questioning Purity explores the body's remembered gestures, through an investigation into our subconscious physical habits. Constant and persistent, these internal scriptures develop over time unnoticed. This work is a response to and an interrogation of these internal scriptures, paradigms of being, loving, and living, questioning their purity of intention as they etch themselves into the mind and body.
Los que faltaban: Pulsaciones x minuto The "shout of excitement" is that unique peak of intensity when doing something for the first time. Pulsaciones x minuto explores the rush of a first look or the adrenaline of risk. It reflects on how these intense moments anchor us in the present, even as the heart eventually returns to its normal rhythm.
