Cranky Choreographing Books

Twenty years on from his groundbreaking solo piece ‘Choreographing Books’, Peter Pleyer once again picks up the thread of a creative process: writing about dance and the dance that emerges from that writing.

‘Choreographing Books’ was created in 2005, at the height of the ‘Konzepttanz’ wave in Berlin. At the same time, Peter was a regular guest at the legendary weekly Wednesday jams at the K77 Studio, right next to DOCK 11 on Kastanienallee. There he experienced all those wild, sweat-inducing and daring dances that he felt were missing from the conceptual dance of those years.

What has changed since then? How have writing and dancing evolved in the meantime?

These questions form the starting point for a special evening blending dance and books.

Together with a changing line-up of guests, Peter presents ideas that have developed through a dialogue with dance, books and magazines. He answers questions, dances with each guest and, at the end, invites anyone who wishes to join in to dance a score from Contemplative Dance Practice together.
