How can we imagine a repertoire beyond what we already know and value in dance? This question forms the starting point for the project “Bazm (Repertoire)” by Iranian choreographer Armin Hokmi, which will celebrate its German premiere at Radialsystem in July 2026. The work is driven by the idea of fabricating an entirely forged repertoire, turning the notion into a lens for actively questioning modes of recognition, authentication, and the conception of dance and choreography.

Subtle and rigorous, Armin Hokmi, together with an international group of artists, brings to the stage a choreographic work dedicated to movements that, although impulsive, are taken onto the bodies of the dancers like refined sculptures. Insistently, phrase by phrase, the dance takes on new shapes, shifting from introspection to outward gaze. Movements that come from the heart and from the bones, with subtle shifts and flinching gestures, either bat shit crazy or gently patient, reveal what it takes to define a world together: a Wunderkammer of dances.
