In the performance After The Sun, Brazilian choreographer Clébio Oliveira explores the memories inscribed in the body and the complex relationships between identity and ageing. The work reveals the poetic essence of ageing bodies, particularly those of dancers who find themselves in this inevitable phase of transition, embarking on an unknown journey.
Oliveira and his performers play with the dimensions of space and time, transforming dance into a hypnotic interplay of images and thoughts. The result is an immersion into an almost surreal allegory, where the timeless depth of the unconscious contrasts with the subjective limitations of ageing, opening the door to a deeper psychological exploration.
Through a combination of movement, music, language and light, the ensemble invites the audience to reflect on and question the often overlooked beauty and complexity of ageing. How do we deal with something that lies beyond our control?
