WAED BOUHASSOUN & ORPHEUS 21

Femmes d’Orient

“Since the dawn of civilization, women have walked through history like a quiet but eternal light,” writes Syrian singer, musicologist, and oud virtuoso Waed Bouhassoun about her new program. On International Women’s Day, she is joined by a diverse group of musicians from Senegal, Armenia, Iran, Kurdistan, and Germany to follow the traces and explore the impact of women in the cultures of the Middle East: as givers of life, determined rulers, and living memory of their societies.
