STAATSKAPELLE BERLIN & GEMMA NEW

Works by Haydn, Britten, and Montgomery

The Staatskapelle Berlin continues its annual tradition of performing two programs at the Pierre Boulez Saal. In the first concert, New Zealand–born conductor Gemma New makes her debut with the orchestra. She is joined by tenor Stephan Rügamer and horn player Ignacio García to present Benjamin Britten’s Serenade, one of the best-known works he composed for Peter Pears. The program also includes Haydn’s final symphony, a major success when it premiered in London in 1795. American composer Jessie Montgomery’s spirited and energetic Strum, written in 2012, opens the concert. Presented by the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in collaboration with the Pierre Boulez Saal Tickets are available exclusively from the Staatsoper Unter den Linden staatsoper-berlin.de
