Andreas Ottensamer, longtime principal clarinetist of the Berliner Philharmoniker, has also appeared internationally as a conductor for several years. The four works heard in his program with the Staatskapelle Berlin share a connection to his hometown of Vienna: Mozart led a performance of his A-major Symphony there in 1783, and Schoenberg began work on his Second Chamber Symphony in Vienna, a work he eventually completed decades later in the United States. Franz Schreker wrote his Intermezzo just after finishing his studies at the Vienna Conservatory. And Joseph Haydn spent the final years of his life in the city after a successful career as a kapellmeister and celebrated sojourns abroad. Presented by the Staatsoper Unter den Linden in collaboration with the Pierre Boulez Saal Tickets are available exclusively from the Staatsoper Unter den Linden staatsoper-berlin.de
