Songs by Schubert, Brahms, Bruch, and Fürstenthal

Both on the operatic stage and as a lied performer, Austrian baritone Rafael Fingerlos is among the most exciting singers of his generation. For his Pierre Boulez Saal debut—originally scheduled for 2025—he is joined by pianist Joseph Middleton to perform works by Schubert, Brahms, and Max Bruch. The two artists also present a true rediscovery with songs by Robert Fürstenthal (1920–2016). Forced to emigrate to the United States in 1939, Fürstenthal took up composing again toward the end of his life to write a series of songs in a late-Romantic style that evokes his hometown of Vienna.
