Nikolai Music on Friday
Organists share their perspectives on Berlin and society through music: contemporary music meets tradition, creating new perspectives.
In “Carte blanche,” organists present their personal perspectives on Berlin’s history and social issues. By combining contemporary music with works from earlier centuries, they create surprising sonic experiences and open up new perspectives. You’ll discover how the organ can sound today and how its contemporary music gives voice to new perspectives!
Important: Seating is limited for concerts at the museum. The ticket is valid for admission to the concert but does not guarantee a seat.
About “Manuale des Jetzt”
The concert series, part of “Nikolai Music on Friday,” accompanies the special exhibition “Chorus” at St. Nicholas Church. Curated by composer and organist Alexander Moosbrugger, it presents the organ as a contemporary instrument. The title refers to the manual—the keyboard of an organ played with the hands. Exploring various thematic focuses, the concerts combine contemporary music with Berlin’s urban and intellectual history. They address current social issues and showcase the organ as an instrument of the present.
Admission to the concert is free for individuals with a Ukrainian passport, a Ukrainian residence permit, or a valid student ID from a Ukrainian university and a residence permit in Germany, as well as for all individuals with an electronic residence permit (eAT).
Admission to our event series “Nikolai Music on Friday” is free for people with a Ukrainian passport, a residence permit from Ukraine, or a valid student ID from a Ukrainian university and a residence permit in Germany, as well as for anyone with an electronic residence permit (eAT).
