Nikolai Music on Friday
Organists share their perspectives on Berlin and society through music: contemporary music meets tradition, creating new perspectives.
In “Carte blanche,” organists present their personal perspectives on Berlin’s history and social issues. By combining contemporary music with works from earlier centuries, they create surprising sonic experiences and open up new perspectives. You’ll experience how the organ can sound today and how contemporary music gives it new voices!
Important: Seating is limited for concerts at the museum. The ticket is valid for admission to the concert but does not guarantee a seat.
About the Concert Series
From October 2026 through April 2027, a concert program will accompany the sound installation *Chorus*by Annika Kahrs. It is curated by Beate Tast-Kasper of the Berlin Museum.
Part of the program is the concert series “Manuale des Jetzt.” Curated by composer and organist Alexander Moosbrugger, it presents the organ as an instrument of the present. The title refers to the manual, the keyboard of an organ played with the hands. With changing thematic focuses, the concerts combine contemporary music with Berlin’s urban and intellectual history. They address current social issues and showcase the organ as a living instrument of our time.
The sound installation “Chorus” will not be audible during the live programs and events.
You can find all dates and further information in our program.
Admission to the concert is free for individuals with a Ukrainian passport, a Ukrainian residence permit, or a valid student ID from a Ukrainian university and a residence permit in Germany, as well as for all individuals with an electronic residence permit (eAT).
