Essen Guitar Duo: August 13, 1961—The Construction of the Berlin Wall

For more than 35 years, the Essen-based guitar duo—consisting of Stefan Loos and Bernd Steinmann—has been performing together on stage. Their repertoire is diverse: In addition to various original compositions, it includes music from the Renaissance, the Baroque, the Classical period, and even flamenco. To mark the 65th anniversary of the construction of the Berlin Wall, the duo will perform at various locations of the Berlin Wall Foundation, playing pieces from their album “August 13, 1961—The Construction of the Berlin Wall.” Through an expressive musical language, the music captures the striking images and painful experiences closely linked to memories of the construction of the Berlin Wall.

The event is part of the special program marking the 65th anniversary of the construction of the Berlin Wall.
