Only five percent of the universe consists of visible particles. The rest is absolute darkness. So-called dark energy and dark matter are neither reflected nor absorbed by light waves. The total absence of light is also the prerequisite for Georg Friedrich Haas’s “Solstices.” In the pitch-black concert hall, the audience shares an intense listening experience as the ten musicians move toward one another with barely perceptible changes in pitch, creating atmospheric friction and building toward a grand sonic orgy through diverse musical interactions.
