Das Konzert mit der Maus premieres in Berlin, inviting you to the Philharmonie Berlin to enjoy the thrilling music and exciting amusing and factual stories based on the life of the composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The legendary mouse will be accompanied by the presenters Jana Forkel and Johannes Büchs and the WDR Sinfonieorchester – together they will investigate the Austrian child prodigy. A concert full of discoveries, learning and experiences.
Die Sendung mit der Maus is one of the most successful children’s television programmes ever and a German TV institution. Its amusing and factual stories have enchanted viewers of all ages on Sunday mornings since 1971, and its theme tune composed by Hans Posegga is familiar to both children and adults. The programme is produced by WDR.
The format Das Konzert mit der Maus, which was devised in 2017 in close collaboration with the Sendung mit der Maus, opens the concert hall to young audiences and enables them to experience classical music of high quality in a playful and amusing way. Each concert in the series is devoted to a different great composer and combines exciting musical stories with live orchestral music – so far episodes have explored Ludwig van Beethoven, Edvard Grieg, Johannes Brahms and Peter Tchaikovsky.
In addition to the charming presenters of the Konzert mit der Maus, internationally renowned conductors such as Cristian Măcelaru, Howard Griffiths and Bar Avni have also contributed to its success. They not only achieve musical excellence: they also create an atmosphere in which children and families can approach and experience classical music with curiosity and without fear.
In 2026 Das Konzert mit der Maus will tour for the first time outside North Rhine-Westphalia and present its Berlin premiere at Musikfest Berlin.
