Berliner Philharmoniker: Kirill Petrenko conducts Richard Wagner’s “Walküre”

Adultery, incest, the Ride of the Valkyries and a magic fire spell – there’s something for everyone in Richard Wagner’s Die Walküre. We encounter Wotan, a divine patriarch who is both powerful and helpless; the twins Siegmund and Sieglinde, ignited by their love for one another; and the fearless titular Valkyrie, Brünnhilde. Wagner’s music makes the full range of these characters’ emotions viscerally palpable. Following performances at the Salzburg Easter Festival, Kirill Petrenko and the Berliner Philharmoniker bring Die Walküre to Berlin in concert – continuing their cycle of Der Ring des Nibelungen, launched last season.
