Two more Berlin vaccination centers to close next week

Impfung

The two state-owned vaccination centers in Berlin-Tegel and in the former ICC congress center in Charlottenburg are to close as early as the end of May.

Anyone who still wants to get vaccinated there must hurry, the German Red Cross announced on Friday (May 27, 2022). Previously, it was planned that both vaccination centers would remain open until the end of June. Several vaccination centers, such as the ones in the exhibition halls, in the Treptow Arena and in the Erika Heß Stadium in Wedding, have already been closed. The number of Coronavirus vaccinations in Berlin has been stagnating for some time.

Closure after short-term decision of the Senate

"The closure of Tegel and ICC is based on a decision made at short notice by the Senate Health Administration," the DRK explained. The two vaccination centers will be closed on Saturday and Sunday and then open again on Monday and Tuesday from 9 AM to 6 PM each day. In Tegel, the vaccines from Novavax and Biontech will be used, in the ICC those from Moderna and Biontech. Children's vaccinations are also available from 1:30 PM to 6 PM each day.

Vaccination center in the Ring Center mall remains open

From the beginning of June, only the vaccination center in the Ring Center shopping mall on Frankfurter Allee will remain in operation. According to the Red cross, it will be open daily from 9 AM. to 8 PM. Vaccines from Moderna, Biontech and, in the future, Novavax will be offered there.

Around 3.3 million vaccinations since December 2020

Since the start of the Berlin vaccination campaign at the end of December 2020, around 3.34 million vaccinations have been administered in the vaccination centers operated by the five aid organizations and with mobile vaccination teams and vaccination buses. The German Red Cross ran the vaccination campaign together with the Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund, the Malteser, the Johanniter and the DLRG.
