Numerous pharmacies in Berlin invite you to the "Long Night of Vaccination" on October 8.
On this day, it is possible to get vaccinated against coronavirus and flu even late at night. In Berlin, there are pharmacies in almost every district that are participating and some are open until 10 p.m.
Anyone interested should visit their local pharmacy in advance and make an appointment if necessary, as a spokesperson for the Berlin Pharmacists' Association recommends. "October is the ideal time to protect yourself against the flu and coronavirus with a vaccination," Anke Rüdiger from the Castello pharmacy in Lichtenberg is quoted as saying in a press release. Vaccination in pharmacies offers low-threshold, flexible access to these important vaccinations.
The campaign is taking place for the third year in a row. The aim is to raise awareness of the upcoming vaccination season and increase vaccination rates in Germany. The Standing Committee on Vaccination (Stiko) recommends an annual booster vaccination against Covid-19 and influenza for people aged 60 and over and people with pre-existing conditions, among others. Vaccination acts like a protective shield, explained Johannes Nießen, acting head of the Federal Institute of Public Health, recently. "It significantly reduces the risk of severe cases and can save lives in an emergency."
In Brandenburg, the Neuruppin health authority has so far been registered as a participating facility. Vaccinations are given there from 5 to 9 p.m. Anyone wishing to be vaccinated should bring their insurance card and vaccination card with them. According to the current status, more than 300 facilities are taking part across Germany, including doctors' surgeries and company doctors. A complete overview can be found on the official website.
