An aerial bomb from the Second World War was discovered during construction work in Teltow (Potsdam-Mittelmark district) on Monday.
The bomb is to be defused on Wednesday (21 May 2025) between 7 am and 4 pm, as the city announced on its website. In addition to residents of the Brandenburg town, people from the Berlin district of Steglitz-Zehlendorf are also affected by the evacuation.
According to the information provided, a 600 metre exclusion zone is required for the defusing operation. The city of Teltow and the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district office are asking residents to leave the buildings in this area by 7.00 am. "Remember to take any identification, money and medication with you for the day", the district office added. People in Teltow can use the community centre in Ritterstraße and those in Steglitz-Zehlendorf can use the Carl-Schuhmann-Sporthalle.
