After the pipe burst in the east of Berlin, around 150 households are still without a drinking water supply.
Households in the immediate vicinity of the burst pipe at Platz der Vereinten Nationen in Friedrichshain are affected, said Berliner Wasserbetriebe spokeswoman Astrid Hackenesch-Rump to the German Press Agency this morning.
The reason for this was that the damage to the main pipe had damaged a smaller pipe next to the main pipe. The cement drinking water supply pipe was unable to withstand the pressure. A tap stand with drinking water had been set up for those affected. The pipe is to be repaired during the course of the day. The repair of the large pipe will take several weeks, said Hackenesch-Rump. Due to the break in the main pipe, large parts of the north-east of the capital were temporarily without water during the night.
