Berlin theatres and orchestras sold significantly more tickets last year than in 2023

A total of 3,270,233 visitors were counted, according to the cultural administration. In comparison: 3,061,809 tickets were sold in 2023.

Friedrichstadt-Palast remains a crowd-puller

However, the stages have not yet been able to fully match the pre-corona figures. In 2019 - the last year before the pandemic - 3,315,161 visitors were recorded. According to the figures, the Friedrichstadt-Palast remained the biggest crowd-puller last year with more than 549,000 visitors, an increase compared to 2023 (458,713). Behind it, the Deutsche Oper Berlin attracted almost 254,270 people (2023: 243,649), according to the cultural administration. There were also increases at many other major theatres.

Senator for Culture: "It's good to know this cultural treasure is in Berlin"

The Berliner Ensemble, for example, had 176,730 visitors - almost eight per cent more than in 2023. 148,878 people attended the Deutsches Theater (previous year: 143,022). Rundfunk-Orchester und -Chöre GmbH, on the other hand, made a slight loss (180,252 after 197,475). Senator for Culture Joe Chialo (CDU) described 2024 as a "successful year" and thanked everyone who works on the stages and with the orchestras. "It is their joint success! It's good to know this cultural treasure is in Berlin".
