More care facilities inspected in Berlin

In order to better protect the well-being of those in need of care, the home supervisory authority of the State Office for Health and Social Affairs (Lageso) inspected more care facilities last year.

A total of 749 audits were carried out in 2024 - 182 more than in the previous year, according to an activity report. According to the report, the inspections were announced and unannounced, including following complaints.  According to Lageso, the home supervisory authority investigated 545 complaints, 7 more than in the previous year. The majority of complaints concerned care facilities and residential care communities. According to Lageso President Alexander Straßmeir, around 45,000 adults in need of care and disabled people live in various care facilities in Berlin, for which the home supervisory authority is involved.
