39.9 degrees Celsius: a record high for Berlin

The winter weather is back - with snowfall and temperatures between zero and minus five degrees in the morning, the German Weather Service (DWD) is predicting slippery roads.
Temperatures will also rise to a maximum of one degree during the day, it will remain frosty and snow in some areas, according to the DWD. The Berliner Stadtreinigung (BSR), which is actually on warning strike, has set up an emergency service, according to its own information.
There is an emergency service agreement between BSR and Verdi for necessary winter service measures, wrote Berliner Stadtreinigung on X. What exactly this means was unclear in the morning. Residents are responsible for sidewalks, the BSR continued. The DWD is expecting one to three centimetres of fresh snow for Berlin and Brandenburg today, with the exception of the south of Brandenburg. Three to six centimetres of fresh snow are expected to fall in the evening and on Friday night, and the risk of slippery conditions remains. The snowfall will gradually subside on Friday.
