Companies in Berlin should be able to submit all official applications digitally by the end of next year.
This concerns administrative services such as the recognition of foreign professional qualifications, business registrations or entries in the register of craftsmen, as the Senate Department for Economics announced. It has identified a total of around 300 such administrative acts.
Just over 80 are currently available digitally via the Digital Business Service portal. The service is set to grow fully by the end of 2025. By then, the Senate Administration also wants to introduce so-called Digital Business Consultation Hours in all districts, where administrative procedures can also be carried out. In future, companies will be able to pay for applications across the board via the US payment service provider PayPal. Artificial intelligence should help to process applications more quickly.
The plans are part of a concept for the digitalization of Berlin's administration for the economy, which the Senate has now published. In it, the state government also reaffirms its goal of providing all households in the capital with gigabit internet connections and fiber optics throughout the city by the end of 2028.
