The Berlin police have expanded their anonymous whistleblower system in order to receive as many tips as possible about possible crimes.
In future, people will be able to report observations or knowledge of significantly more areas of crime on the Internet platform.
These include radical, extremist or terrorist activities, according to the police. However, information on environmental crimes, food fraud or white-collar crime and other criminal offenses is also possible. The information is forwarded to the relevant departments, according to a police spokesperson. Until now, the system of the Berlin State Criminal Police Office (LKA) only provided for tips on the subject of corruption. Since it was set up in 2015, there have been around 3,900 anonymous reports, according to the police.
