30,000 election workers wanted for European elections

Stimmzettel

Berlin is looking for around 30,000 electoral assistants for the European elections on 9 June. This was announced on Monday by state electoral officer Stephan Bröchler.

He asked people to take part in the organisation of the election day and to register their interest on the website of the state electoral office. According to the figures, around 2.7 million Berliners are entitled to cast their vote in the election. Bröchler called for participation: "The European Union needs the impetus to strengthen democracy in Europe, especially in these times of crises and challenges."

New Berlin state electoral office has been working since the beginning of the month

The new Berlin State Electoral Office started work at the beginning of the month. The authority is intended to help prepare and organise elections in Berlin better in future. The establishment of the office is a consequence of the elections to the House of Representatives and the Bundestag in 2021, which were marked by glitches and organisational problems and have since been repeated in whole or in part. It forms an independent organisational unit within the Interior Administration.
