Significant increase in demand for public bicycle hire

Nextbike

Significantly more people used the capital's bicycle hire system last year.

Over two million journeys were made with the rental bikes last year, as the transport administration announced on Monday. Around 6,600 bikes are available at over 3,000 stations within the Berlin city centre. The state of Berlin has been funding the public bike hire system since 2016 and is cooperating with the provider Nextbike. Transport Senator Manja Schreiner (CDU) emphasised: "More and more Berliners, as well as our guests, are recognising the benefits of cycling through the city without noise and exhaust fumes at a fair price."
