Trucks jam in front of a blocked highway entrance in Brandenburg.

The State of Berlin has lifted the driving ban on trucks for next Sunday out of concern about supply bottlenecks in light of the farmers' protests.

"Secure and efficient supply chains are the basis for ensuring security of supply, especially for food retailers," the transport administration announced on Wednesday. "Therefore, in view of the ongoing farmers' protests, the state of Berlin has granted an exemption to suspend the ban on trucks driving on Sundays and public holidays for January 14, 2024." The Ministry of Transport in Brandenburg had already issued such an exemption for last Sunday.
