Tech and startup trade fair Gitex comes to Berlin from 2025 onwards

Berlin as a trade fair location is getting a new major event.

Starting in 2025, the tech and startup trade fair Gitex Europe will be held annually in the German capital, the Berlin-based company announced in Dubai on Wednesday. To this end, the trade fair and the organizer Kaoun International are founding a joint venture in which each will have a half share, it was further reported.

Gitex Europe to take place annually in Berlin from 2025

Gitex Europe is to become an offshoot of Gitex Global, which is currently held in the United Arab Emirates. With around 6000 exhibitors from more than 100 countries, Gitex Global is considered one of the world's largest technology and startup trade shows. By comparison, the technology and consumer electronics fair IFA in Berlin had around 2000 exhibitors this year.

A great success for Berlin as a trade fair location

The size of the European version of Gitex in the Berlin and the number of visitors and companies it will attract remained open. The Berlin trade fair company Messe Berlin did not initially provide any details. Senator for Economic Affairs Franziska Giffey (SPD) described the agreement in Dubai as a great success for Berlin as a trade fair location. "The heart of the startup community is beating in Berlin, here we are at the pulse of future technologies. That's why Berlin and Gitex are an excellent fit. In the center of Europe, our city has become a magnet for international talent and investment," said Giffey.
