Call to water city trees in Berlin-Mitte

Citizens in Berlin's Mitte district are once again called upon to water street trees this summer.

Diligent waterers will be awarded the "golden watering can", as the Mitte district office center communicated on Wednesday. To participate in the competition, photos, for example of watering actions, should be sent by e-mail to [e-mail]. The district is also calling for pictures and videos to be shared on social media under the hashtag #mittegießt until the end of August. "The drought of recent years has taken a toll on many trees," the district office stressed. Young trees in particular need water in their first years. The rule of thumb, it said, is: rather water less often, but with really a lot of water. Ideally, collected rainwater should be used.
