All residents within a 500-metre radius of the site would have to temporarily leave their homes by 8 am on Monday because of the defusing, the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district office and the police announced. Businesses are also affected.

War bomb found in Zehlendorf: Evacuation for defusing on Monday

After the discovery of a bomb from the Second World War in Zehlendorf, police and authorities are preparing to defuse it and evacuate surrounding flats.
Collection point in Onkel-Tom-Strasse
The district office is opening a collection point run by the German Red Cross for people who cannot stay with relatives, friends or elsewhere for the duration of the defusing. It is located at the Ernst-Reuter-Sportanlage/Sporthalle Onkel-Tom in Onkel-Tom-Straße 58, according to a statement on Saturday.
S1 to be interrupted
During the defusing of the bomb, the S-Bahn traffic on the S1 line will also be interrupted, according to the police. Parents of students at the Schadow-Gymnasium reported that classes here were completely cancelled for Monday. The school is located in the exclusion zone.
Security measures expected until 6 pm
The 500-kilogram dud was discovered in the ground on Friday during road works on the corner of Berlepschstraße and Dallwitzstraße. The police expect that the security measures can be lifted from 6 pm on Monday.
