The Berlin police are now also using electric motors on some of their motorcycles.
Four all-electric large BMW motorcycles with police equipment were handed over on Thursday, according to police. They are to supplement the police motorcycle squad. Initially, a two-year test is planned to clarify how the e-bikes prove themselves in everyday service.
The vehicles will be used in particular for operations that do not involve classic motor vehicles, i.e. running events, bicycle parades, inline skating events, but also for state visits. In this context, the police emphasized: "In the meantime, around six percent of all police-owned vehicles in Berlin are on the road with alternative drives."
