The Berlin Senate has agreed on key points for the reform of Berlin's administration.
This was announced by Governing Mayor Franziska Giffey (SPD) on Tuesday after the Senate meeting. Giffey named three pillars of the reform project: clear responsibilities in the administration, especially with regard to the state and districts, efficient city-wide management, and the strengthening of the districts.
Implementation is to take place in two stages. In the first stage, the distribution of tasks between the districts and the state is to be defined in a new law before the end of this year. In the second reform stage, by the end of 2024, decisions are to be made for which an amendment to the state constitution would also be necessary.
