Due to an ammunition blast at the police blasting site in Grunewald, motorists will have to prepare for closures on Friday morning.
The inner-city highway Avus will be closed briefly in both directions between the Hüttenweg and Nikolassee junctions at around 10 am, police said on Wednesday. Rail traffic will not be affected.
In August, the highway and railroad lines in the area were closed for days due to a fire with numerous explosions at the blasting site. Police store unexploded bombs, shells and ammunition from World War II, mostly found during construction work, as well as illegal fireworks at the site.
