The initiative "Freiwillige Helfen" (Volunteers Helping) and the Senate are calling for donations for the millions of refugees in Ukraine.

"With winter now approaching, a humanitarian catastrophe looms if people have to survive in temporary shelters without heating and without necessary winter clothing," the initiative announced Thursday. "Together, we are calling on Berliners and Berlin's businesses to donate so that people in Ukraine can survive the winter." Berlin's Governing Mayor Franziska Giffey (SPD), Transport Senator Bettina Jarasch (Greens) and Culture Senator Klaus Lederer (Left Party) also attended the launch of the appeal on Thursday.
