Berlin plans to spend at least 3.7 and 3.8 billion euros on investments in 2022 and 2023.
Around three billion euros are also planned for each of the three years thereafter, said Finance Senator Daniel Wesener, who presented the financial and investment planning until 2026 to the Senate on Tuesday. "We want to continue to invest in the city," said the Green politician. In total, more than 17 billion euros are to be invested for the years 2022 to 2026.
In all years, the investment rate is above eight per cent, which is the target set by the Senate. This is higher than in the past five years. However, this is a "tour de force", said Wesener. School construction remains one of the most important investment projects for the coming years. After 653 million last year, the funds are to increase continuously. By 2025, this figure should reach 1.7 billion euros. Other major investment priorities are the promotion of social housing and transport projects.
