Berlin and Brandenburg parliaments want to work more closely together

Dennis Buchner

Dennis Buchner, President of the Berlin House of Representatives, speaks at a plenary session.

In the future, the elected representatives in Berlin and Brandenburg want to coordinate regularly on cross-state issues.

Joint solutions are to be advanced in a "Parliamentary Conference". This was communicated by the President of the Brandenburg State Parliament, Ulrike Liedtke, and the President of the Berlin House of Representatives, Dennis Buchner, on Tuesday (June 28, 2022).

Better coordination on cross-state issues

"We want to improve coordination on cross-state issues and projects from within the parliament and provide impetus for action," Buchner said. "This is our common ambition to further develop the Berlin-Brandenburg metropolitan region." Eleven deputies each are to be sent to the so-called Parliamentary Conference, which will meet three times a year. Their resolutions are then to be introduced into the House of Representatives and the state parliament.
