Berlin's Traffic Information Center (VIZ) has put out a roadblock warning caused by climate change protesters for this Friday (March 18, 2022).
The group "Last Generation", which has already organized roadblocks on numerous highway exits since January, had announced "massive" blockades of a "multitude of roads" for this Friday. Reportedly, the occasion is the 100th day of the new federal government, which continues to rely on oil, gas and coal instead of climate-friendly energy.
There could be "significant traffic disruptions throughout the city all day," VIZ tweeted in the morning. If possible, people should use public transport or bicycles. From Jan. 24 to Feb. 18, police had recorded 45 blockades with protesters seated and pinned down. In early March, the actions were stopped for the time being because of the war in Ukraine.
