Steel beam framework of the old bridge torn down

The new construction of the Tegel Bridge over the Spandau Ship Canal should be completed by the end of 2023, the Berlin Waterways Construction Authority announced on Monday (Jan. 24, 2022). According to the statement, the 750-ton steel beam framework of the old bridge was recently demolished. The danger of an unscheduled blockage of shipping traffic due to bridge damage is finally off the table.

Traffic is guided over temporary bridge

Car traffic between Bernauer Straße and Gartenfelder Strae has been running over a temporary bridge since November. A new bridge is being built in place of the old one. The project costs have been quoted at 20 million euros.
