Another 3500 LTE routers were delivered to Berlin schools in the first week of January.
Thus, the Senate Department for Education announced on Monday (December 10, 2022) that all currently reported needs of schools are covered. Last year, more than 10,000 routers were already distributed to schools in Berlin. The costs are covered by the Senate Department.
However, the LTE routers are only an interim solution for connecting schools to the Internet until they have nationwide broadband fiber-optic connections and dependable WiFi structures. Berlin's Senator for Education, Youth and Families, Astrid-Sabine Busse, described the routers as a sensible temporary solution: "In this way, we have responded quickly and pragmatically to a challenge. I hope that we will continue to do so in the future when faced with similar challenges."
