Bus service in Berlin is improving thanks to a more stable staffing situation at the Berlin Public Transport Authority (BVG).
"From now on, the M77 will continue for just under five kilometers, past Alt-Mariendorf to the Hermannstraße S-Bahn and U-Bahn station," said BVG CEO Henrik Falk.
Accordingly, the X33, which runs between Spandau and Reinickendorf, will operate longer in the evenings and run more frequently during the day. For passengers in Charlottenburg, the previously discontinued Line 310 will resume service. According to the information provided, it will run between the Wilmersdorfer Str. U-Bahn station/Charlottenburg S-Bahn station and the Blissestraße/Uhlandstraße U-Bahn station. This marks the first expansion of bus service in years, Falk said. This shows that the company is moving step by step in the right direction. The BVG no longer has a staffing shortage. In particular, there are now once again enough drivers for subway, bus and streetcar operations.
Meanwhile, the situation with subway service has also stabilized. In the first half of the year, reliability was back at around 98 percent. Excluding strikes and other factors, the figure was 98.5 percent, according to the data. For the full year 2025, reliability stood at just 94.3 percent, according to the data. In the medium term, the BVG aims to return to a reliability rate of 99 percent. Reliability measures the percentage of scheduled trips that are actually completed.
