During the summer break, several outdoor swimming pools in Berlin will once again offer free sports programs specifically for teenagers.
Activities include soccer, volleyball, table tennis and trampoline jumping. These activities are available from morning through evening at the outdoor pools in Pankow, Neukölln, Kreuzberg, Seestraße and Gropiusstadt.
The program is designed to encourage young people in particular - but also adults - to participate in sports, in part as a way to prevent aggression and "excess energy," as the public swimming pool operators put it. The focus is on "sports-oriented youth social work." "Sports at the outdoor pool" is funded by the State of Berlin. "The goal is, above all, to give young people the opportunity to participate in sports, make friends, and thus spend their free time in a meaningful way." In 2025, approximately 22,000 guests took advantage of the sports programs. In 2024, the number was 21,000.
