Administrative reform continues to make progress
The Berlin Senate has introduced a new law on district financing. What that means for reducing the administrative burden and improving efficiency. more
The organisers of the Olympic bid want to win over Berliners by focusing on opportunities for future generations.
"We want better sports infrastructure for our sports clubs, for our sports metropolis Berlin. But above all, we want investments in our city's future," said Berlin's Governing Mayor Kai Wegner (CDU) at the presentation of the campaign entitled "Berlin wins with the Olympics" at the Velodrom.
Among the guests were 150 children. "We want to make it happen for you that the Olympic Games come to Berlin, that not only sporting events take place here, but that the whole city benefits from it," Wegner said, addressing them. Interior Senator Iris Spranger (SPD) emphasised the long-term benefits that the Olympic Games would bring to the capital: "Modern sports facilities, better training conditions and new spaces for exercise will not only benefit top-class sport, but above all the people of Berlin in their everyday lives. That is exactly what this bid is all about: long-term added value for the capital."
The campaign motifs are now being used in advertising in Berlin and on social media. More are to be added soon. The Landessportbund (LSB) popular initiative for a bid has collected over 28,000 votes, prompting a resolution in the House of Representatives. The organisers now want to actively involve the population with workshops, online seminars and neighbourhood tours, among other things.
