The former managing director of BVG Projekt GmbH, Jörg Seegers, is to become construction site representative for Berlin. Seegers will take on the role on a voluntary basis from 1 February, according to an announcement by the transport authority.
His responsibilities include better coordinating construction work on Berlin's transport network, reducing disruption and making processes more efficient.
"He will improve coordination between the various stakeholders – districts, utility companies, construction companies and the administration – and thus make a significant contribution to ensuring that traffic in our city runs more smoothly despite intensive construction activity," explained Transport Senator Ute Bonde (CDU). According to the administration, Seegers has been entrusted with the planning, management and implementation of major public transport construction projects for many years. From his practical experience, he is very familiar with the requirements of construction processes in densely populated urban areas.
